Eyeliner

Eyeliner application helps your eye look large. It is also helpful in shaping your eye. But its correct application is very important as it may cause the look overdone if done too dark, thick or harsh. Here we share our favorite tried-but-true eyeliner tips and then give instruction on how to apply to a various shapes of eye:

Close-Set Eyes:

Line outer third of upper lids with gray, brown, or black liner. Smudge gently. Use a lighter liner on the inner eye to widen the space between eyes.

Small Eyes:

Draw a dark line gradually thickening at outer edge of the eye. Use a light colored pencil (gold, silver, white) and draw under lower lash.

Deep-Set Eyes:

Line upper lash line with pale, shimmery liner. Then line outer edge of lower lash with a soft, neutral shade (gray or taupe). This will create the illusion of a less heavy lid.

Drooping Eyes:

Line outer third of eye very close to lashes, carefully sweeping the liner up at the corner of the eye.

Eye Makeup

masacara-1Dark, long and thick eyelashes enhance the beauty of eye. Apart from the beauty the most important function of eyelashes are to protect and shield our eyes from dust and other foreign bodies. And because we communicate a lot with our eyes, our eyelashes help us put color and meaning to our words with the way we flutter and bat our eyelashes.

It is not important that everyone is born with long and thick eyelashes but still they don’t need to worry for the lack of seductive looking eyes; after all, what is makeup for? All it takes is the touch of the magical mascara wand.

Mascara does magic for our lashes

Use your lash curlers before putting on your mascara. It works more effectively if preheated prior to the curling. Be careful not to heat your curlers too much, though, or else you will singe your eyes

To see the magic of mascara, its correct application is very important. There should not be any globs of the stuff clinging to our lashes and that each strand should look separated from each other.

To avoid dried globs and clumping strands, apply the mascara to the base of the lashes with the mascara wand and then give the wand a wiggle. Afterwards, carefully brush the mascara to the ends of the lashes with the use of a lash comb. Or if you do not want to use a lash comb, just wipe the excess mascara from your wand with a piece of tissue before touching it to your lashes.

Second most important thing is to prevent smudging. You can prevent the smudging by applying powder first onto your lower eyelids before putting on the mascara. Also, try not to blink while putting the mascara on, or else it will definitely stick to your eyelids rather than to your lashes.

Second coat of mascara makes the lashes look thicker and remember to apply second coat before the first coat dries, or else you will only end up clumping the lashes.

Use a mascara wand that is short and thin coz its very common to miss the lashes at the corners of our eyes. Short and thin wands let you reach those corner lashes; it also gives you extra control in handling it.

The best mascara results come from using clean wands, so keep your wands clean at all times. Put some makeup remover on your mascara wand to wash off the dried mascara, and then clean it with soap and water. Let the wand dry first before replacing it with your other makeup tools. A clean and dry wand not only maximizes the application and appearance of mascara on the eyes, but also prevents the eyes from getting irritated.

So, in short the steps for mascara application are:

  • Apply powder on eyelids.
  • Use preheated lash curlers.
  • Apply mascara with short and thin wand upto the corner of the eye.
  • Allow it dry.

Eye Makeup

Eyes have smaller structure and its every part has different functions :

  • Eyelids : Their main function is to protect your eyes from dirt, dust and harsh light.
  • Eyelashes : A protective net for your eyes.
  • Cornea : A refractive zone that guides light to reach the retina.
  • Pupil : Controls the amount of light that enters your eyes.
  • Lens : A refractive zone that also guides light into the retina.
  • Retina and Optic Nerve : A bunch of intricate wiring that carries vision signals between your brain and eyes.

Beauty can be felt when we can see it, and we can see when we have a perfect vision. That’s the reason why I am discussing the point vision care under beauty. Our work pressure and lifestyles do not give us the opportunity to be kind to our eyes. As we know how much important the vision is let’s see what is computer eye syndrome. Here are some symptoms:-

  • Blurring vision
  • tears
  • redness
  • puffiness

Take care

Dry steam

Sit straight at your workstation and rub your palms against each other till you feel them warm. The warmth of your palms helps soothe and relax tired eyes. Then, lightly cup your eyes with your palms and relax for 60 seconds. Count the seconds in your mind. Repeat this exercise two to three times whenever your eyes feel tired, or as often as you want. While palming, you can either rest your elbows on your desk or keep away from the desk and cup your eyes. Both ways are fine.

Eye bath

During breaks, splash water on your face while closing your eyes. This has an overall relaxing effect and helps you feel refreshed.

Take a break

After you’re done with lunch, take a stroll outside your office for a few minutes. This will give your eyes a much-needed break and get them some fresh air.

Eye exercise

  • Dr Harish S Belvi, a practicing ophthalmologist (eye specialist) based in Mumbai, says that regular work hours should be infused with short breaks. During such breaks, he suggests a small and easy exercise: “First, blink your eyes several times. While you keep your eyes closed, roll your eyeballs both clockwise and anticlockwise and take a deep breath. Gradually open your eyes while releasing your breath. This exercise lasts for a minute and you can repeat it three times before getting back to work.” It serves as a good workout for the eyes.
  • While working for long hours, look at distant objects either in your office or outside. Looking at a distant object and then returning to your task helps your eyes focus better. Try taking such visual breaks for about five to 10 minutes every hour.

Benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria which causes inflammation. It is available over the counter in 2.5%, 5% and 10% creams and lotions. It is available in gels in the same percentages but only by prescription. Clinically, there’s not much difference between the effectiveness of the various strengths and types used.

Natural ways to lighten your skin:

Dark spots, and freckles, and skin-damage

Every shade of skin is beautiful, but as we grow older our skin tone can change. Freckles may appear, dark spots can arise, and skin may not be as light as it once was. So, if you’re still not ready to embrace your dark side, read on for a few natural whitening tips and tricks.

Use Sunblock

One of the easiest ways to stay fair is to use sunblock on a daily basis. Find a moisturizer that includes an SPF of 15 or higher and use it every morning after washing your face. Sunblock not only prevents your skin from getting darker, but also blocks harmful UV rays that can cause cancer and premature aging. Remember your hands when applying sunblock, as they are a prime area for age spots.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating once a week will remove dead skin cells to lighten and brighten your skin. Mix two tablespoons oatmeal and two tablespoons brown sugar with a quarter cup of milk, and stir until a paste forms. Gently scrub your face, rinse, and moisturize.

Make a Mask

A homemade mask is a great way to lighten your skin and a good excuse to kick back on the couch. Try using one once a week. Use one tablespoon of each of the following: sandalwood paste, lemon juice, tomato juice, and cucumber juice. Mix them all together to form a paste. Spread the mixture on your face and wait until it dries. Rinse and moisturize for a natural glow.

Licorice Extract

Licorice extract contains glabridin, a component that acts as a natural skin whitener. Apply a thin layer of the extract morning and evening, after you wash your face and before you moisturize. Licorice extract can be found at any health food store or ordered online. Be sure to store the bottle in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness. Note: test a small amount on the back of your arm before using on your face to be sure you do not have an allergic reaction.

Remember to love your skin no matter what color it is. It’s a part of who you are and that’s what makes you beautiful and unique.

Hair Care

Are you lacking shine in your hair? Don’t disappoint. Our nature is built up with so many natural products that can help us to reduce our problems regarding health. Here are some discussed to develop natural beauty if hair.

Sun, wind, saltwater, pollution, and chemicals are just some of the shine-depleting elements your hair may be subjected to on a daily basis. They can strip your hair of its natural oils and create build-up leaving it dull and lifeless. Fortunately, Mother Nature has a few remedies to share.

The Alluring Avocado

Mash an avocado (one avocado for short hair, two for long) in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. Spread the paste on your hair from root to tip and leave on for 20 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Avocados are high in fatty acids and nutrients. Feed your hair!

Amazing Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix half a cup of apple cider vinegar with one quart of water and use as a hair rinse after your regular shampoo. Rich in alpha-hydroxyl acids, apple cider vinegar helps break down residue build-up leaving your hair soft and full of shine. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and it will be shining in no time.

Eggs Over Olive Oil

Beat together two eggs for short hair, three for long, and add in three tablespoons of olive oil. Coat your hair from root to tip and leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Eggs contain eleven essential nutrients and are packed with protein. Combine them with olive oil for conditioning and nourishment and you have one powerful duo.

Coconut Craze

Warm three tablespoons of coconut oil and gently comb into your hair from root to tip. Wrap your hair in a hot towel and let the oil sit for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. Loaded with antioxidants, coconut oil works to smooth dry and damaged cuticles and lock in shine.

Life doesn’t have to be dull and neither does your hair! It’s time to shine! Open your cabinet and start mixing, then sit back and bask in your natural glow.

Hair Care

Common hair damages and their treatment

Split ends

Causes:- The most common causes of spilt ends are; use of heated appliances (Hair dryers) and chemical processing (like using dies), using the wrong type of brush and comb and general neglect.

Cure:-

  • Since hair grows 1.25 cm. a month, a trim of 6.3 cm. every five weeks should suffice.
  • To prevent your hair getting trapped at the base of the brush use a wide -toothed, non-metal comb or brush with a padded base and widely spaced bristles.
  • Avoid the use of hair dryer at hottest temperature setting.
  • Use a conditioning treatment upto the ends of hair.

Dull hair

Causes: - In healthy hair, the cuticle lies flat and reflects the light. Harsh chemicals and environment assaults can cause healthy hair to become rough and damaged, spoiling the reflective surface. The cause of dull hair is a build-up left by styling products or the conditioning agent that two-in-one products contain. Some times an illness, like flue releases toxins from the body through the sebaceous glands in the scalp, coating the hair, eventually leading to listless hair.

Cure: - The most important rule is to keep your hair clean. It is better to follow a well- balanced diet -protein and iron are essential for shiny hair, as is vitamin C.

Dry hair

Cause: The main reason for dry hair is the over use of heated appliances, perming, colouring, bleaching, incorrect use of products and environmental damage.

Cure : Switch to a shampoo and a rinse-out conditioner for dry hair. Don’t apply conditioner to the roots, it will leave hair heavy and limp. At least once or twice a week, use a deep conditioning treatment to re-moisturize. Alternatively, you can rub hair oil between your palm and then massage it into dry areas. Avoid rollers and tight elastic bands on the brittle hair as they may cause it to break.

Hair loss

It is quite natural to lose about fifty to hundred a day. More than this amount of hair loss could result from any one of a number of factors and may be cause for concern.

Cause:-

  • Daily repetition of certain hairstyles, like hair tightly pulled back, braided or wrapped around rollers can pull out individual hairs. Such pulling can damage and destroy follicles completely and the hair will not grow back.
  • Emotional stress may bring on  alopecia areata, a disorder that results in bald patches on the scalp and may be associated with changes in the immune system. Emotional stress can also cause hair to fall from parts of the scalp.
  • Body stress is also known to cause excessive hair loss. Hair loss can result from pregnancy or begin when a woman stop taking birth control pills.

Cure:

It is better to see a trichologist if handfuls of hair fall out after shampooing. For mild hair loss, use products that tone and invigorate the scalp and stimulate the growth. Scalping massage is good, which aside from being relaxing and reducing stress levels, loosens and stimulates the scalp and promotes healthy hair growth.

Most hair loss is temporary, but when the follicles are destroyed by serious scalp burns, excessive exposure to x-rays, or vital infection, hair loss can be permanent.

Dry scalp

Cause: It may or may not be a cause of dandruff

Cure: Dry scalp can be controlled by using a very gentle shampoo and intensive conditioner regularly.
